In today’s special post, I present a house that I designed a couple of years ago. What do you think, did we succeed in creating a Nordic style house?
The small family residence is located in the hilly woodlands of Western Hungary. The gable roofed house features a simple, rectangular floor plan. The kitchen, living and main bedroom are on the first floor, while the smaller guest rooms and a common work / play area are located on the second floor under the roof.
Harsh weather takes a toll on the houses at this otherwise beautiful and scenic location, so the building needed materials that can withstand the elements. The walls are built of insulating clay blocks, the roofing is standing-seam zinc sheet and the large deck is covered with solid larch wood.
