In today’s special post, I present a house that I designed a couple of years ago. What do you think, did we succeed in creating a Nordic style house?
This small family residence is located in the hilly woodlands of Western Hungary. The simple, gable roofed house features a rectangular floor plan. The kitchen, living and main bedroom are on the first floor, while smaller guest rooms and a common work / play area are located on the second floor under the roof.
Harsh weather takes a toll on buildings at this beautiful, scenic location, thus the house needed materials that can withstand the elements. The walls are built of insulating clay blocks, the roofing is standing-seam zinc sheet and the large deck is covered with larch wood.
